Just finished going through a few pirate/siren photos and some police K9 photos, but here's another hockey photo (still have a lot of those to go through as well).

I can't even imagine the shutter speed it takes to freeze, or even slow down, a hockey puck.

Not that high really. For the most part, I was shooting in manual mode at F/2.8, ISO 800, 1/500s.

<chuckle> I wish the small town rinks I'm shooting at would give my poor little D60 enough light to shoot at 1/500 with f2.8. I think the best my Sigma 50mm could manage was 1/320.

You can try bumping up the ISO or openning the aperature some more if your 50mm is something like the F/1.4.

Lets rename this thread to Soccer shot of the day.

I have never seen light like this. It was partially cloudy but I couldn't believe how much light there was. I was using Aperture priority, -1/3 compensation and look at the shutter speed.

    Camera: Nikon D300
    Exposure: 1/5000 sec
    Aperture: f/3.2
    Focal Length: 150 mm
    Exposure: -0.48
    ISO Speed: 200
