Btw, if I am not mistaken you had D700 before D3, if so then why you swapped? any specific reason?

Gee, there's been some great shots here lately. Kudos to you all.

Here's a portrait I took for a theatre programme biography. The lighting was outdoor shade plus fill-in flash. I used my Nikkor 18-200 VR handheld at 70mm (105mm equivalent). 1/60s @ f/5, ISO 200. Who said the 18-200 isn't sharp at apertures wider than f/8? And yes, his skin really was that 'seen-too-much-sun' red colour. You'd think he'd have a shave before a sitting, wouldn't you?

There's a reason I guess that most portraits tone down sharpness a little. Looks like I could sharpen my pocket knife on him

Yes, I agree, particularly when taking portaits of women. However in this instance, the final product (a photo in a theatre programme) was going to be quite small. Also, I was curious to know just how sharp the 18-200mm VR can be!

yeah thats sharp as anything. great light most of all. great case of perfect eye contact and a simple composition.
