Thanks mate, it's a spot I was at with kids and thought was promising enough to revisit. It meant a 200km drive on a day I didn't have the kids so I could shoot at a better time of day without rushing. This is about 1 hr before sunset with a polariser.
D800, D300, D90, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200VR f2.8, 300 F4, 105 micro, 16-85VR, 50mm 1.8, Tammy 90 macro, 70-300VR, SB900, 2xSB600, MB-D10, 055XPROB 322RC2. New computers to run photoshop faster. C&C always appreciated. PhotoGallery

Me too! They're a pain and I don't have the patience lol. Bees are more cooperative for me.

Thanks everyone!
I'm actually fortunate I spotted this one near the walkway so I didn't have to lean in too much to get closer to it. I spent nearly 5 mins trying to get the sharpest shot possible of its face, and from the 15+ frames, this is the only one that came out the sharpest.
It was the most patient dragonfly I've ever shot up close. Unfortunately, I tried getting a different angle and I leaned my elbow on one of the railings. As soon as my elbow landed for a firm support, it created a vibration that set the dragonfly flying away LoL
