Cropped quite a bit. Exposure corrected, sharpened substantially, and denoised as well. Wanted to save it if I could as I liked the pose. was quite a way off at the time. Flew closer but the dark background resulted in motion blur. SS around 1/25oth at the closest. This was shot at about 1/350th. Just wish I had a Looong lens for this guy. He is around a lot but most of the time on the opposite bank of the river, 100 yards or more and quite a reach for the 70-300. anyone giving away a 150-500. <that's a joke son> Figured I could maybe get an 8x10 out of it but no more.

A nice shot regardless. A longer lens would get you into tripods and gimbals pretty quickly. I will say it is subjects like those where the Bigma 50-500 is nice to have.

Southwards Car museum in NZ has a car with a WW1 Zeppelin motor in it. Four air cooled cylinders that are so far apart you can stick you hand between then without touching anything. I heard it running once and it sounded like it was revving at about 200 rpm.

Falcon, that shot (eagle) just shows the advantage to having a ton of pixels to work with. Very nice image.

Considering the size of the pistons, and the machining technology of the day, it's surprising that they could rev much above 2000 RPM. If you are ever in Detroit (actually Dearborn) head over to the Ford Museum, or if in Indy the Raceway Museum is fantastic.

Here is a shot of one of the cars from Indy. The unique STP Special driven by Mario Andretti. A rather high rever.

Turbine cars are great to see running. One year at the Amelia island Concours they had about a dozen including the three Firebird prototypes. The rules for that show are all cars must run, even prototypes.
