K1W1; My B&W shot seems to have vanished but your edited images are here. The top image looks OK but the bottom one looks very grainy, like Tri-X Pushed too far. Nice effect, though. Regarding the sliders comment I just used the convert to B&W choice in ACDSee's menu. The do offer a slider control in that window to add back in some color effects on the B&W image.

I was trying to show the differences that were achievable and make the second one look more like an old style newspaper shot. It was just an exercise to show that there are many different ways of editing black and white.

Cleared cache... computer posted images are not being displayed. Looks like Jeff, or admin, is working on it as they showed up yesterday, but are gone again today.

Jeff said the site had been hacked but has fixed it now. Posts certainly seem to work now.

No problems here. I guess we could start a Mac v Windows argument.

Seriously clear your caches and your browsing history.
It looks like a lot of version 4 vBulletin forums were badly hacked in the last week. Depending on the security level it appears that many have had their user names and password lists stolen so for safety you should also change your password to log onto this forum so the hackers can't use your identity in future to get back into the forum.

'S funny that some images are there but others are gone, just an indicator that they are supposed to be there. ?
