D70Fan,
Angkor Wat is huge. If you are to see all the walls, statues and bas reliefs it will take days.
The temple itself is the pride of the Cambodians. They always have it as a symbol on their flags regardless of their ideologies. Throughout modern history of Cambodia (from the 40s?) the flags changed 5 times according to the changes in ideology. The colour and the stripes of the flags changed but Angkor Wat symbol have always been on the flags of all the governments: the royalist (2 regimes), the republican and the communist (2 regimes).
Hmmm... I just notice that I said 'they' and 'their'.

Yes we were studying the changeover from being part of the French colony to independent nations of Cambodia and Viet-Nam.

Thanks Dread. In fact, I left the country before I turned 18 and have lived in Australia for over 30 years now.
Plus, I don't even have the right to vote for the government there. I think that's why.

A very nice lake shot K1W1. Always nice to have a lake in the neighborhood. Ours is Locke Lake. I really need to spend more time there...
