In your example, it seems that your sequence is -1, -2, -3 EV (according to the exif) and that the fourth shot is the HDR. What's interesting is that when posted here shot four looks like an overexposure, but when I cut-and-paste to the desktop it looks correct (and definately print material)... Additionally, the exif also shows a camera error as Nikon never made an EOS500D model, so maybe my photo previewer needs calibration... (jk ).

Perhaps its a problem with your PC

Looks ike you caught me out - I should have said I usualy never go more than +- 2/3rd!
As I say I move the middle point when I think it needs to be so it is not always -1 0 +1 but as in this case -3 -2 -1

That sculpture is one of my favorite subjects for sunset/HDR; but there are only a few days a year the sunset is in the right place. Last year was quite bad as most days there was a thick band of cloud accross the horizon.

    definately print material
    Thank you.

Same with summers here. Most summer days are cool and foggy. Go a few miles inland and it's 32C and sunshine, but the grapes and cypress trees seem to like it.

You're right! Now that I have recalibrated my system the exif reads D3200...

Headed over to Old Fishermans Wharf (yes there is a new one too) to catch up on my shootin'. Many blown HDR's but finally figured it out today. None of the following are HDR (just in case you think I'm really worse than I am).

This shot is a "Lion Pile" (or where's Waldo) on one of the floating piers. I especially like the guy on the bottom right "Lion Diving". Weird angle shot as I had to squeeze between the railing and fish cleaning tubs. Yes it did smell BAD.

On a more pleasant note, there are some great fresh seafood joints (many have been here several generations). This is one of them (love the chowder in a sourdough french bread bowl).

Now we're off the HDR bandwagon here's something exactly the opposite, very small dynamic range and pastel. A happy snap taken while walking on the beach yesterday.

    D70,

I like the sea lions, but I would crop it so that it is 100% sea lions. It would give it a more abstract look.
