One more from the sunset collection... promise.
I'm realizing that I should have tried an HDR shot. Unfortunately the tripod was in the car.
Speaking of HDR... Using a trial version of Photomatix. What say you HDR shooters? Anything out there better (less expensive)?

I use sns-hdr free version but it is command line; there is a pro version as well. It depends what you want to do with HDR.
I put some notes and details of a batch file on this thread.

If it's a three shot HDR having the camera in high speed burst works well enough or me. No tripod required most of the time.
I have never liked Photomatix I use Nik HDR Efex pro but it's not free.

Lets stick with the hand held HDRs for a bit. I was bored waiting for the people on motorcycles to arrive.

Thanks for the info Anthony, but when I take a ton of photos on a shoot (even though only a few may be HDR) switching to a line edited methodology breaks the workflow... and I am relatively slow, sometimes spending more time goofing around in pp than I should.
K1W1 thanks for the tip on Nik (didn't Nikon aquire them?). I don't mind paying for good software. I'll give it a try. With the onset of hand tremors, it is rare now to have steady enough hands to shoot a 3 frame series, not violent shake but enough to be agrivating, so the Manfroto and VR are my new best friends.

I have a batch script setup and I just drag and drop my 3 photos over the batch file icon - I always use the same settings and so never modify the batch script.
I tend to process the HDR photos before loading all the photos into Lightroom these days.

Nikon took a minority share holding when they used Nik to develop Capture NX

Correct. About 6 months or so ago.
