Unfortunately it was one of those on-the-fly shots on the way to work (I work about 300 meters from this beach). There was quite a bit to take in, and I wanted to give the shot some depth so took the wider shot. Actually it has been cropped about 15%. Next time the sun shines I'll give it a go and maybe wait until the D7000 comes home.

Sorry 'bout that but reading that triggered old memories.
Sorry Falcon, no Emus in the song, I think that was Abos (as in Aborigines). A freind and I sung as a duo (i.e. Monterey Folk Festival 1964) and this was one of our favorites (and the audience too).

SPOKEN: There's an old Australian stockman lying, dying. He gets himself up
onto one elbow and 'e turns to his mates, who are all gathered around and 'e says:

    Watch me wallabies feed, mate
    Watch me wallabies feed,
    They're a dangerous breed, mate
    So watch me wallabies feed
    Altogether now!

Tan me hide when I'm dead

Wow a bit of Rolf Harris. We're not allowed to abbreviate the term aboriginal anymore due to our politically correct society - unless you want to face social ostracism.

    Great song but.

Awash in a torrent of grass. Looks like summers here... minus the roo's.

Another for the collection of great shots. I like what you and the 300/300 can do.

Makes sense, if Abo was a derogatory label. I have attempted to update the lyrics, while hopefully retaining the flavor of the song...

    D70fan;
I am surprised that I got as much as I did right. You are right about the 'abos' but I didn't realize that it referred to the Aboriginals.
Didn't mean to offend anyone, just recalling a song I remember from my youthful years.
Also, I thought that it "was watch my Wallabies 'speed' ". Funny how your mind can edit or remember wrong, or just hear wrong.

I'm surprised that such a song about a man in the outback Australia is known and sang in the USA.

Dread, that shot looks like painting. Nice effect.
