Was getting ready to sell my D60 and popped out the SD card. Felt something give, and suddenly the SD card wouldn't lock in place anymore. Got an estimate to fix, and decided instead to trade the body to the shop for a Nikon 50mm 1.8D. One of my first shots:
Harsh shadows I know, and the last few shots in this thread are tough to follow.

Gorgeous pic. NZ has some the greatest scenery. That tree kind of reminds me of the apple trees in the Wizard of Oz, lthe ones with the 'worms in the apples'.

Looks like you might have been to close for the bear as it was. Great shot!
Fortunately most of my subjects tend to fly away if I get too close.
I'll leave the risky nature shooting to those with the real long lenses like my friend Paul Blasko.

thats a pearler of a shot. a bit of a lift in the shadows using curves would be more than enuf to soften the shadows, although even as it is they arent distracting.
