You need to get him looking up to get the color, (light), in his eyes and try to have both eyes on the same or similar focal plane. Use an online dof calculator which will give you a great reference point.

Thanks for the hint. I should think about buying some strobes. All I've got is my SB-400 (btw, the BEST piece of advice you ever gave me. Great flash) but I'm saving for a better body. Really want a D90 to gain some better high ISO performance.
    Critique most definitely desired...

D90 can produce pretty good results - even at higher ISO settings
Also it can produce quite natrural images and there are lots of fine tuning settings
if you want to explore those.

    Violinist

Original image is a live concert picture of this young lady playing with her family at a Southern Gospel concert at a local church.
A friend and I used ACDSee 14 to 'fiddle' around with the original image to create this.

Instead of just complaining about the rain, like I always do, I went out and played with the sigma 50mm macro... Wish I'd had the D800 so I could have blow up this even more.

Here's one of a wedding I did a while ago.

I quite liked this image for some reason. It was pouring with rain and the bride was pretty upset about it as she wanted some nature shots.

Sorry I cheated... the original scene didn't look as dramatic.

    After the Rain

Here is a shot taken after a night and day of rain moistened thirsty ground. Even the flowers appeared to be refreshed.
