With spring sproinging, I told the kids to get outside and find something to do. Didn't quite have this mind...

Pardon the project vehicles in the background. Not much good with cloning stuff out.

What the hell did they do, find a new tar pit? Or perhaps they struck oil, in which case, will we see an upgrade in your photographic gear?

I think they were pretty miserable by the end of the cleaning. Too cold yet for the power washer, so they were garden hosin' it.

Posted this one earlier, then killed it as it wasn't quite what I wanted (too sharp in some areas). I may have gotten a little soft now:

I as a sharpness freak am surprised I like the softness in this one as a way of conveying mood.

I might have brightened it personally, but I'll leave it to those more artistic to provide real critique.

Always difficult to strike an ideal sharpness balance - I always err on the side of caution and
don't sharpen my pics very much at all
    Lovely photo.

Not sure you can get away with chopping that much of his face away, particularly the way it cuts over his mouth. I also think its underexposed by a stop or more.

Thanks for comments all, much appreciated. I'll have to calibrate my Mac's screen, as the histogram agrees with you, but my eyes aren't seeing it This picture was an "accident", as I was goofing around one day, just trying to focus on eyes and bring out their color, which I've never been good at (do the crosshatch focus points of a better camera help with that?) when I stumbled across this and liked the composition (agree with you on the mouth thing Rooz). I did it with my Sigma 50mm @ f4 so his left eye was perfectly in focus but the depth of field was too shallow. I'm going to retry it again one of these days with a greater depth of field and try to bring everything into proper focus.
