You can try bumping up the ISO or openning the aperature some more if your 50mm is something like the F/1.4.

ISO was up as high as I'd want on my D60 (800) and my 50 is a 2.8 macro. I was just using it to see if I could get enough light with a 2.8 lens, before I spent money on the zoom.

Id like to get some feedback on this image. I decided to step out of my norm(studio work) and try some landscapes...

I was going to attempt an HDR but it didnt turn out, so took one of the images and did alot of enhancements and photoshop to it.
Is it over done? Too saturated? Does it look "fake"?
Any and all comments are appreciated!

I haven't checked for all the responses, but did anyone mention time of day. Once the sun is high in the sky, you're done. The image becomes flat because that's the light you have. Nothing wrong with the composition. You just didn't have the light to make it pop. Try getting to that same spot just before dawn, and then taking a series as the sun rises in the sky, another series later in the day as the sun drops to the horizon. The change in light color and the highlights and shadows produced will give you completely different images from this one. If you have a good sun angle, you might also try a polarizer on that sky.

No and it's not summer (officially).
Same thing happened with both lenses I used, it was just incredibly bright. We were at Warrnambool so maybe that's remnant SA light or something.

I think it looks fine. Nothing overly exciting, but a solid composition with some decent colors. Some warm light would help.

I meant to comment on this one earlier, but I was preparing an exam I was likely to pass so I didn't have time. Now I'm preparing an exam that will take a miracle to pass, so that gives me plenty of time to comment

All in all, I think you did an excellent job given the light conditions. I think the composition is nice, but I would aim the camera a bit lower to shift the horizon upward to the upper third and to show the top of the tree in the reflection.

The lighting conditions didn't do the image much good, but you did nail the exposure. Personally I would boost the shadows a bit more and use some control points (if you use NX, otherwise I would recommend a Unsharp mask with a low strenght but high radius applied locally) to enhance the detail in the leaves.

I don't really like the blueish cast in the sky. I would either warm the sky or decrease the saturation. In my opinion overcast skies look better if there are shades of gray rather than shades of blue. Finally, I think the foreground could use a bit more contrast and a bit less saturation. Especially the green grass looks a bit odd here.

I don't think you needed HDR here, I think just processing a RAW file is the best (and easiest approach here).
