TheKoopaBros, I really like those shots. Beautiful colours, and I like the shallow DOF.
Dollface, nice shot. Beautiful colours.
I'm going to that Townsville and many other places in North Queensland in July. Luckily this month is supposed to be outside the jellyfish season
I already posted this one in the insect thread, but I thought I would post it here as well:

I personally prefer his original composition, greater feeling of context / setting and sky has greater impact. The latter feels too cramped to me and no natural lead in imagery except from half way up the image.

We agree. I like to feel that the bridge goes somewhere. If anthing I'd try to crop it top and bottom to give it a more panorama look.
That's the joys of photography though. There is no right and wrong and for every opinion there is an equally valid contradicting opinion.

I agree with Cyberwlf.
Original composition is better and gives way better feeling over context.

Tomorrow (25 April) is ANZAC Day here it's the equivalent of Veterans Day in the US or I guess Armistice Day in Europe so here we have two gun barrels. One fired the first Allied shot of WWI and the other fired the first Allied shot of WWII due to peculiar circumstances and accidents of timing.
