    Hi Guys,
The pic of the kookaburra, is a laughing kookaburra. There are a number of varieties of Kookaburra.
They are related to King Fishers. The image was taken here in Cairns Australia

love the lighting on that phil. personally, i think if you aimed a little further to the left to catch where the light ended, it may have been a stronger composition. (says the landscape guru )

    cheers Rooz.

I like the expression on the face of your little un. But you must have crapped it as that hand approached! Although difficult, I think focussing on the hand with enough DOF to make out the face would have been a cool shot too...but you have to be very quick!!!

    Watch this btw....very funny:

Can't seem to get the sharpness I want out of it and moving objects always seem to blur .But when I had the D50 the same shots were always clear and well defined.
Started with a Nikon D50 and now learning how to use a D80.

herc182 - OK now - I went back later and he link was flying!!

Calico - that sounds a bit odd?!
I know I had similar problems intitially - but I was coming from a lighter P&S with Anti Shake.
I bumped the in camera sharpness up on mine - it's default is quite soft.
Also you might play with the contrast and or saturation settings - they
should be OK at normal - but have a play and see what you find - I sometimes put one or the other
on Auto if I am not sure...
Obvious one here - I now hold the end of the lens - wasn't neccesary with the KM A-200 - but when
I push the shutter release there is a small amount of camera dip - which magnifies up to quite a lot
of movement at the end of the lens - now I know this shouldn't be different compared to the D50.
Try also keeping your shutter speeds up a bit faster until you nail the problem..
Let us know how you get along.
