What program do use, I played a little in Lightroom, brought up the exposure

Thanks DPR. Yeah I have to work on my composition for sure. I kind of wish there were grid lines in the viewfinder to remind me to do it but i'm sure all it needs it reminding myself about the composition before I take a shot!
Here is another one from the same day. Not sure it looks right cause I edited it on a different monitor.

Anco the middle frame for me but then I'm biased since I copied that frame from Rooz for my photos.
Craig I prefer the other shot since I'm always taking leading line photos myself and I'm trying to teach myself not to (sometimes). Nice shot though I'm sure many others will prefer it. I might have prefered slightly darker grass. I'm assuming you used a polariser to keep the lovelly blue sky, nicely done.
Hey I've only just noticed it's a shot of Kent, I was born there but have never seen it as an adult. Nice.

Err dunno. Thats the sort of question I ask here and hope someone answers
For me at least my 50mm F1.8 gets good contrast around F4 (according to Rooz) - F8 (and I personally think drops off above F14). Contrast on my 18-200 looks yuck below F7.1 and stays nice to F22 at least to me.
I'll confess I tweak curves on every single shot that I think is better than a happy snap. I don't do it in camera though by changing from standard to vivid, I want to control it myself.

A friend's cabin in Eastern Washington State. Shot with D40 & 18-55mm II at 18mm in JPG. Should have shot RAW as there were some highlights lost in the clouds.

Looks great. A really well exceuted shot that draws you in. Good subject choice, good exposure, good composition, good editing. Nicely done.
