So, what kind of vacation? Hiking and roughing it? Sorry if you gave trip details in another thread and I missed it.

Looks like somewhere I definitely want to try...
    Thanks
We had rented a house in Portugal for one week and we decided to spread the journey over a couple of days and visit some interesting places on the way. We stayed at several campings on the way. On the way to Portugal, we visited Pamplona and the running bulls festival, Bilbao and Santiago de Compostella. On the way back we drove by the place on the picture, Cognac, and Normandy.

We did everything by car, we didn't do any hiking. Below the village from where I took the picture there was a campsite. It was just about 15 minutes of walking to get to this place.

In the week in Portugal we visited many other nice places including Porto, spend some time in the swimming pool of the house we rented and we helped the local supermarket get rid of the beer they had in stock . Anyway, it was a lot of fun

    Thanks Xailo.
Indeed hard to believe, with that kind of view I wouldn't dream of leaving
Anyway, the lake you see was created using a dam, it used to be all farmland, which is pretty much why everyone left. There are quite some more abandoned villages and farm houses near this lake.
Here's a thread with pictures I took there two years earlier, while I was staying there with my parents: http://www.dcresource.com/forums/sho...d.php?p=163789

70-200/2.8 L used as a club? Then you can take a good picture of them before you send them to whatever afterlife they go to.
