i suspect if its NX its using Upoint. if its CS3 its using multiple layers.

Guys the reason why you are not getting the same color in Photoshop or Lightroom vs Capture NX is because you are working with an unprocessed RAW file. The only way to keep your in-camera settings is to use Capture NX - it will see and apply those settings. Personally I don't do it this way because I would much rather have total control so I use the Saturation and Vibrance sliders within ACR.

I like it too. But, until CS3 and it's Vibrance slider, I could not get my RAW files to pop like my JPGs...and I was using normal settings in camera. It frustrated me, so I often would take the RAW file, process it to what I could, then overlay the JPG layer, and set it to color mode haha
Not exactly the best way to do it. But, now with CS3 and the Vibrance slider, I find that's all I need and it works well without destroying colors, like the saturation slider can. Saturation seems to destroy the quality when going too far (I often don't go beyond 5, if I even move it at all), whereas I can (and often do) go up to 40-50 with the Vibrance slider. Colors pop and (to answer Fiasco's question) the skin tones are not ruined.

Honestly, I think it was the Vibrance slider in CS3. That is my main adjustment with RAW files. Kind of sucks to be relying on that one feature, but it beats the way I used to do it 
I also play with the layers a bit. As an example, I might copy the red channel, set it as soft light (adjust opacity)...set another layer as color (adjust opacity)...No set pattern, rather I just play until I decide I like it. So, not all my images are processed exactly the same.

Great shot, swgod !!! Beautiful model, colours and lighting.
Here's a picture I took today. The water looked red due to the reflection of some houses near the waterside. I enhanced it a bit with Capture NX.
This one was taken with the 70-300. It's been a long time since I last used that lens.

Thanks Fiasco and Rooz.
I did some editing to the image in Capture NX and also some cloning in photoshop. The original looked like this:

I don't remember precisely what I did, but here are some things that I am sure I did on this image. First of all, I lowered the exposure to regain detail in the highlights. This meant that the rest of the image was very dark, so I used some D-lighting after that. I also set the contrast level to medium high or high, this gave the water much more pop. I also used some control points on the feathers to enhance the texture (basically by raising the contrast while lowering the brightness).
I then opened the image in photoshop to remove the reed in front of the swan, I did that with the clone tool and the retouch tool. I raised the saturation of the reds a bit more too. After saving I decided it could even use a bit more, so with a control point in NX I added even more saturation.
So, all in all it took quite some processing. "I enhanced it a bit" was perhaps a bit of an understatement

OK, this may be crazy. Going 29 MPH on a bicycle taking a picture. Actually, it was part of a documentary I did dispelling the myth of cyclist on another forum referring to Florida as flat (ie. boring) rides. The other shots were stationary, illustrating the hills. I couldn't resist the action shot though!
