Thank you fellas! I'm working hard at improving.
For the lights I used 2 AlienBee AB800s in softboxes at 1/4 power in front of her angled 45 degrees in from left and right. On the backdrop I had my SB-600 flash on the floor with an omnibounce on itaimed up at 45 degrees to light just the background it was also at 1/4 power. All the lights were triggered by my D80 onboard flash set to 1/8 power.

It could be the saturation too...that can make people turn orange.

Quite right. It is the saturation. I was going for the saturated color look of Fuji Velvia 100F film. I think that, despite not actually being a film photo, I got it somewhat close.
I am looking into getting a Fuji S3 Pro body so I can shoot with vivid colors right out of the camera... for some reason when I shoot in RAW on my D80, the images always come out with muted colors, despite having the D80 set to "More Vivid".

Same goes here for the D50, I use Lightroom and its initial conversion just zaps all the pop out of the photo, I just put it back in PP. What raw conversion do you use?

the images come out more muted because their raw and unprocessed, when you shoot in jpeg the camera saturates the picture for you like your doing in PP and adds depth

Ya, I had trouble with RAW files for a while. I could never get the RAW files to look as nice as the camera JPG's. Then when I got CS3 and discovered the "vibrance" slider, I realized cranking it up to about 50 often made the picture pop. Most of them, anyways...obviously, each image is different.
Anyways, speaking of monolights and photoshop, I very recently got myself into some model photography. I've got another shoot planned for this Sunday and am really looking forward to it.

Well....I haven't got a macro lens or macro patience but how about a "close up" of a new toy I'm playing with on my Motorbike (actually it's only borrowed).

and the results? Well they aren't Nikon DSLR quality that's for sure.

Nice! I like that a lot! I've got a few shoots Saturday & Sunday. I think I might have to look at the schedule, now that I think about it, I may be close to overbooking myself for this weekend... I'm a bit overzealous about photography lately. That and I've been waiting for some nice weekend weather for ages!!

How did you manage to get her eyes and fishnet to pop so vividly while keeping her skin tone natural?
