I'm going to break the rules and post 2 photos, but only to show before/after. I was asked to take some photos of a few Chargers we are building at work for the website and some ads. It was waaaaaaay too bright out and their selection of scenery was subpar..but this is what I started with and what I ended with. What do you think?
Welcome to the forum, digibeta. Enjoy your camera!
Classic96, good editing. The only thing I notice is that some of the grass looks blurry(not in the removed shadow, though.) Maybe you could bump up the blue of the sky. How did you get the grass to shift from the yellow-ish to more green? I run into that in a lot of my shots.
Yeah I know some of the grass is blury, and I need to spend some time trying to fix it.
As far as changing the tone of the sky, I tried that but since the sky was so gray, it matches the color of the car too much. I tried replacing the color, however that resulted in the silver paint on the car changing too. That's the same technique I used to change the grass color. Just selected replace color and used the eyedropper to select the grass and moved the fuzziness slider to where it grabbed the correct amount of area... then moved the hue/saturation/brightness sliders until it looked "better". That's the first time I really tried to correct a not so great background/photograph. Other than the few blurry spots, I think it's good.
Did you try selecting only the sky, and doing your edits from there? That should protect the other areas of the shot. Using layers might be another method.
