i love this lens to death. i think i really nailed this portrait. EXCEPT for the background on the left which is an open door. that'll teach me to pay more attention next time.

i intentionally wanted it bright on the skin tones cos i like the effect of it in this shot. what do y'all think of the skin tone being so bright ? for 1/25s thats pretty damn sharp and there aint no PP sharpening here. did i mention i love this lens ?

    1. In photoshop I increased the canvas size by 40 pixels
    2. use the magic wand to select the empty space
    3. now move the selection so it's selecting the last 40 pixels of the pic (right side)
    4. copy selection then paste into new layer (I'll refer to this layer as the "fill layer" from here after
    5. move the "fill layer" to where it covers the empty space created above
    5. Make a selection at the bottom of the "fill layer" for me this was 165x40 but if your working on a duplicate of the original just make the selection from the bottom of the hand downward copy and paste until you cover the duplicated hand should only take two pastes.
    6. now from the "fill layer" select and copy only the childs head and hair
    7. paste in a new layer
    8. now from the "fill layer" select the portion of the childs head and hair plus a 1/4 of an inch extra on the top and bottom leave width at forty pixels.
    9. Move this selection over past the left side of the childs face (just move the selection accross do not move up or down) when nothing but the background appears in the selection copy background. Now move the selection back to where you started and paste in new layer.
    10. Back to step 6 lower the opacity of this layer so you can see through to the other layers line the head up in until it matches what should have been normal there should be excess at the bottom that you will need to erase as to match th natural contour of the face. return the opacity to 100% then use the blend tool to create a natural looking hair line to the left and to blend in the part you erased. all done
