    Great pic.

I'm curious, how good is Nikon Capture for converting NEFs into TIFFS and does it have a good black & white convertor?

Does it offer automatic lens correction for distortion?
Muchos Grazias, sbnr . Jcon answered the first two questions already. Nikon Capture indeed has a very good black and white converter.

However, it does not offer automatic lens correction for distortion. The only lens it can correct is the 10.5mm fisheye.

C t v, very nice picture. The colours are great.

You're right, thanks for correcting me . I didn't know it could do that too . I have been operating everything from the edit list, and the distortion correction cannot be found in that list.

I know that Bibble can do it automatically. It even has profiles to match specific lenses. For instance the Sigma 10-20 @10mm is only correctable that way because there is only barrel distortion at the edges instead of regular barrel distortion. That said, I hardly ever notice the distortion anyway .

the correction when you immediatly open it will provide some basic lens adjustment but it applies the same calculation for barrelling for every photo the same way. then you have to adjust from there.

thats a brilliant feature in bibble, i didn;t know it existed ! i just thought it would be a good idea !! one of my gripes with NX is that its nikon designed software for nikon cams that you have to pay extra for. imo, it would have been sensible to provide lens corrections for specific nikkor lens'.

not a big deal i know, (i rarely use it...sometimes for the sigma), but for having to pay the extra money...well, you do expect more tailoring to the nikon/ nikkor product. mind you, that is by far out weighed by the best RAW processing i have come across in PP.

Nice pictures, Twism. I like the first one a lot. The bokeh is beautiful.
Second one is also nice, despite the bars.

My picture of the day, taken in Montserrat (Spain) last summer.

    Nikon D50, Sigma 10-20
    f/13, 1/200th, ISO200

I edited it with Nikon Capture NX and used its Gaussian blur effect (with the opacity set at 50% so that some details shine through). I kind of like the effect. What do y'all think?
