How did you get that second picture effect? Is that the "bulb" setting when you leave the shutter open for an amount of time?

If so, I'm guessing it won't work very well in well-lighted areas as I tried to do it with cars passing during the day and the picture was nearly white. Or am I totally wrong?

Um you don't have to use BULB to have a long exposure such as the one Esoterra was using. It was probably shot for a second on a tri-pod or for a very shot shutterspeed capable of being hand held like 1/15 or 1/8. If you were to use the BULB function in a well lighted area you would eithe rhave to release the shutter button really fast, or stop down to a f/22 or even an f/32 to get the right exposure

This is what I tend to use my D200 for more often--speed.

Darrell, you bum... why didn't you call me and let me know you were shooting Monster Trucks and airplanes...We still need to do that day trip to the Grand Canyon- leave at like 4 am and head home after we catch a sunset out there.

The crawler event was a last minute thing. After the airfield, I went to the marina and shot some hand held night shots--it's hard to believe, but I didn't anticipate being out there that long and ironically, I didn't toss in my usually stash of equipment.

I'd still love to do a Grand Canyon trip and though I have this coming Friday off unexpectily, I still can't do it because of prior commitments for both Saturday and Sunday. If we can set an actual date, I'll take a day off unless you want to meet in Cedar City, Utah over Thanksgiving weekend and head on over since that is probably where I will be from Turkey Day through Sunday.

We can always talk about it more at the meeting on Friday (if both of us show up).
