    Vignetting

With the FZ3 + TCON there is vignetting until you zoom to at least 3x, possibly 4x. This is with a Yoshida adapter (55mm) so I don't have to use a step ring.

My guess is that it would be similar with the FZ20.

What did you need to use the TC-E17ED with your FZ-30? Does the TC have a special Nikon mount or does it have threads?

    TIA

    Wink Trade offs...

Its pretty well established that, for the FZ30, the Nikon is the better IQ for the increased price. I'm not sure if anyone has tried both the Oly TCON17 vs the Nikon on the FZ50 but, for the FZ30, there's the issue of ~4x the price ~$90 vs $360+, (if one can find the Nikon) versus the increased IQ of the Nikon.

Add in the apparent increase in sharp IQ and more keeper images from the Nikon and one then must make the decision for themselves...

What's the tangible/intangible increased value for the 4x price differential...?

That's the good news. The bad news is, they're a non-standard size, 60mm. So to adapt it to the FZ30 (same thing you'd have to do for an FZ50), I bought a 55-60 stepup ring from http://www.2filter.com.
