    Canon Digital Rebel XTi

The replacement for the Rebel XT will be rather oddly named, the Canon Digital Rebel XTi. This isn't the first time Canon has used such a moniker. There apparently was a Rebel Ti during the film era.

I first picked up on this at FM, and nobody else seemed to take the source seriously, even though he pegged the 5D and 30D correctly. A quick Google search yielded quite a few links to a Magic Lantern guide slated to be published next year (the 30D one is just being published next month, so this is about right). This book was listed in several places, most notably Amazon. This sounds pretty convincing.

Unfortunately, no other information was provided other than an auto sensor cleaning function. I'll keep watch for any further details.

That would totally rock! Money saver right there, not needing to buy IS lenses!

Same here, except for me it will be about 1 more month until funds allow, so maybe something concrete will surface by then to either confirm or deny this.

    Wonder what it'll have...

If it's going to compete with the D80 my bet is a new bigger viewfinder, spot metering, new "in camera' type jpeg stuff...

Doubt a new sensor because the 30D wouldn't compete well with it if it has more megapixels.

Built in antidust maybe, built in IS I highly doubt.

Maybe a new lens, hopefully a canon 18-200 IS. It's been a HUGE success for nikon, canon would be foolish not to copy it.

10MP would shoot themselves in the foot with the 30D only being 8.2

OK - but I promise I won't say I told you so. That's also why they released the 30D several months earlier.

I suppose anything's possible but Canon usually upgrades sensors from the top down. They woulda given the 30D a 10MP sensor first since it's next in line behind the 5D.
