Amazing work. If I have to choose a fav it's #5, only because I'm more of an abstract kinda guy.
I was just complaining on how to get sharpness from RAW into a JPG for web browsing. Looks like you're not having that issue
Amazin.

Yeah, 5's something else. To me, these photos say "unconventional", in a good way. Fantastic work.
However; #1 immediately reminded me of the opening 5 minutes to "Braveheart", #4 seems to have an army green color cast and the top of her breast is angled to look like a wierd sort of webbing coming off her arm, and #6 looks like she's a bit precarious, like the engine's hot and she's avoiding getting burned. Still, those are details compared with the artistic impact of this bunch; amazing work, great B&W conversions, and brilliant timing.
You're havin' fun with that fine lens collection there! 17-55 IS f2.8, 35L, 10-22. Sweet!

Very nice photos, nice colours, pretty bride and lucky groom.
You do make a nice case for the 17-55 IS, the results look very respectable as far as I can see. I like the 4th photo the most I think, but that may be partly due to the beautiful bride.
I really love the colours and contrast of your photos. You shoot in JPEG don't you?

Great shots Jamie - I really like #4-10. I'm curious how you metered #7-8 and what your shutter speed was on #10. Oh yeah - and why did you use your 20D so much? Did you just leave the 35 on your 30D?

Gotta go with coldy on that one. She is simply radiant! She looks very much in love and living the moment. He looks overwhelmed by her! I would definately be!! I looked at the gallery on your site. This wedding must have been a joy to shoot. Beautiful venue, nice sceanery, wide open spaces, no jockeying for position to get your shot!! VERY NICE!!
I really like #17 & 20 in the gallery! Especially the bokah of lights in the background in #20.

[jumping up on my soapbox]
Ken and Don - I was shooting for a sexy look to that image. Most women that I've come across have a secret desire to be a glamorous supermodel. The wedding day might be the only day in their life where they get their hair professionally done up, and don a gown that may have cost more than their first car! Bridal fashions reflect the trend towards that sexy look, with plunging necklines, and no sleeves or straps (just look at your mother's wedding dress to see how the times have changed). I attempt to bring out the "supermodel within" all of my brides. Sometimes I really have to work at it...with this bride (who is just a "regular girl" in "real life") it came naturally. This woman will look at this image and think "Damn, I look HOT!", and she'll feel really good about herself (and that makes me feel good as the photographer). And you know what...she'll get a mischevious little grin on her face in 40 years when her teenage grandchildren are looking through her wedding album and comment "Grandma, you were a hottie". I see my job as a wedding photographer to make every woman I photograph look and feel like the most beautiful woman on the planet - who doesn't deserve that on her wedding day!
[/jumping off my soapbox now]
JMW - funny you should point out those two images. I was working this wedding with a video guy who was a really nice person, but didn't really have a clue about stepping out of the way (he's in a bunch of my processional shots).
#17) During the first dance I noticed that my exposure meter kept juming up to 0 and +2/3 - meaning that I was likely to get blur at the SS's I was using. So after a few safe shots, I decided to bump up my ISO on my 20D to 3200 and see if I could capture the ambience of the scene with my 17-55. Sure enough, the video dude's light illuminated the couple perfectly, and the fact that I turned my flash off brought in the ambience of the disco ball.
#20) after fighting with this guy's light all night, I thought "If you can't beat him...", and by the last dance I dropped the flash off my 2nd body, bumped the ISO to 1600 and mounted the 85 f1.8 (in AV mode). Again, a few safe shots with the flash body, then I switched to the 30D and shot a series with just the guy's video light for illumination. My shutter speeds were marginal (since they were moving), but I did manage to get 4-5 frames that were really nice (if a little yellow). #20 was one of my favorites - shot with the 85 f1.8 wide open.
Now I really want an 85 f1.2 !

Not sure - I shoot jpeg... - I find that USM at 25-50/1/0 works pretty well for web sized images after the resize...

However;...
Thx Vich - "unconventional, in a good way" is just how I want to be described - I think I may make it my slogan! You have a great eye for detail and color - I'm color blind and have a really hard time seeing slight red/green color casts - so thank you. I'm going to let Mr. Kubota work on #4 a bit and see if I can't liven it up. LOL about the Braveheart. I was told that the dresses were hanging in the basement, so I headed down all bu myself...it was dingy down there...and 5 degrees cooler...and there they were...hanging silently as death - you described it perfectly!

The 17-55 IS is the finest wedding lens that you can own on a 1.6 CF body..........IMHO . I haven't used my 17-40L or 28-70L since I bought it...and I don't miss them! Yes on the jpeg question...thx. I add some USM and +10 contrast, but the lighting and the glass accounts for the rest.

Thx Pete. I shot 7-8 in (ready for this) P Mode, evaluative metering, w/+2/3 EV comp to make up for the white dress (though I blew it out just a bit in #7). No fill flash - trying to be like Christian...
#10...also P...1/60, f4, ISO 800, +2/3 FEC
20D has always been my default flash body. In the beginning, it was because I used a 300d/10d/XT as a 2nd body and wanted the best for the formals. Now that I have the 30D, it's just habit I guess, to mount the 20D on the bracket...though the 30D is my "available light" camera so the larger display comes in useful in checking my focus when I'm shooting with my fast lenses.

Excellent work Mate. Number five as said before - shame about the power lines. I really like number 3 - do you think it would also work in monochrome?
