    Ghost in Viewfinder of D50

I just bought a brand new Nikon D50 and while looking throught the viewfinder I saw something strange, and wanted to see if this is normal and if anyone else has it.

If I look at a medium lit subject, through the viewfinder, in the upper-left and lower-left of the viewfinder, I see two halves of a semi circle that are very very faint. What is this? Is it normal?

I have the 18-55mm lens that came with the outfit.

    Thanks

No it is not normal. You probably have something on your lens. If it does not appear in your pictures your mirror or viewfinder glass above the mirror has something on it.

    Tried Dusting and Cleaning

I've tried cleaning the lens on both sides, and dusting the mirror and viewfinder, but it is still there. Attached is an illustration of where it is in the viewfinder and how it is shaped.

I just dug out my 18-55 kit lens just to verify this does not occur on mine. It does not have anything like your describing. If you just bought it I would take it back.

Well then, I am very angry at Nikon then. You would think after paying so much money for a "good quality" camera, you might actually get one. I can't return it b/c the store I bought it from has like a 10 day return something, so I will have to package it up and send it to Nikon--at my expense. Thank God I at least bought it from an authorized dealer, so the warrenty should still be good.
