    Thumbs up D50 Panoramic w/Tamron 70-300 LD

Ooops... major 'My Bad'; I just went to post the EXIF on another forum and realized that I had my Tamron 70-300 LD lens on at 70mm.. Once the smoke from the fires clears somewhat, I'll have to go back and do a true 18mm Nikkor pano...

    Added:
I used my Manfrotto Monopod and gave a generous overlap while conciously trying to keep the horizon approximately the same level in the OVF... I used Manual exposure to lock in the same Apt/Exp settings across the images and AF on the distant horizon

The Arcsoft Panorama Maker program is very forgiving as long as it has some good features to matchup. While it has an aligment tool, I didn't need to use it and the AutoCrop did a good job... EXIF as follows:

Enjoy your new lens, I really like mine.
Seven images at 18mm, I has to put two computer monitors side by side to see it all.

Wow, that panoramic shot looks great! I assume you used a tripod and. How large is the field of view? Did you use Photohop or one of the other stiching applications?

    Nice Job,

Now if only my Tamron 70-300 LD were as sharp at 300mm as the Nikkor is at 18mm...
Your panorama image... was that taken in the Apple Valley, CA area? It looks very familiar!

...on Deep Creek Road... (see my info below...)

For posting a 18mm pano as I originally THOUGHT I had, I went back and attempted to stitch a previous series of 18mm images of the setting sun w/the smoke from the fires... (Just off of Sitting Bull above the new elementary school, Chris...)

As one would expect, and I should have known, the lens distortion presented issues with obtaining a nice, even pano as the Tamron 70-300 LD did...

I'll need to go back to the same area and shoot the same sequence with the Nikkor on 70mm to see how that turns out. That'll be alot easier than trying to correct the lens distortion in the 18mm stitched images...
