    aka New Toy [shhhh]

These images are crappy [28-105 ] and don't do this thing justice. tough lighting too - odd colors do to the refresh rate of the lights [I used a slow shutter speed for that purpose but still got strange colors I adjusted the hue so the colors on screen looked more accurate] - a single shop light directly over and slightly behind the monitor.

The old monitor 19" Star logic [Generic][BTW this monitor is flush against the wall behind it]:

    And the new one:

We all know this movie [uhhh we all should know this movie and the other two as well] new LCD in action:

    Dell Ultrasharp 2007 WFP 20.1" wide screen. . .

Yes, this happens to be the version that has "Banding" issues if you read about it online. I read up on it and still decided to get it. Why? because they were running it at $350 for a little while and now its back up to $450. If you want one of the new versions all you have to do is send them your information and they'll mail you a new one with a shipping label for your old one. . . sweet deal for $100 off if you ask me. So - There is a little banding in DVI mode when looking at gradients [VGA mode is perfect] - but not enough for me to throw a hissy fit or anything [ I don't look at gradients all day long; my photos look awesome] - So far I'm completely thrilled with the performance - a lot better than my CRT - Their new 24" just came out this week too - the one I really wanted - but you know the extra $600 will be better spent on another new toy. . .

Fedex dropped her off about 1 hour before I had to leave for work tonight so I didn't get to test out a lot of stuff but images look damn good! COD2 runs just fine. . . so far I'm very pleased with this monitor kicks the living sh_t out of my old one and is a lot better than my other 17inch Sony LCD that I payed $350 for two years ago. . . so money well spent if you ask me. . .

Actually, funny you asked, when I calibrated it with my Pantone Huey* the image barely changed - it was very accurate to begin with. So the huey software barely had to make a change. I will end up buying either one of these two products in the near future to satisfy my curiousity about the Huey [$79]:

    Spyder2Pro $279

    Eye-One Display 2 $230

    * see first image - see the right edge of the monitor, under the right edge is my external harddrive, to the right of it is a power strip, between the two is the huey measuring ambient light]

    Thanks!

I've been wanting to get a larger LCD and probably will stick with the ViewSonic Pro Series that I've had good luck with _ in the mean time my wife hands me a pair of reading glasses >

Looks sweet Andy _ but not as sweet as ***'s butt >

Wow, Nice monitor but I am more impressed with how neat your desk is!! Tell the truth, you really did clean things up before the pic. I would hate to show what my desk looks like right now. Just a quick glance around I see everything from one of my Turkey Calls to a D cell battery that I know doesn't work, to a couple of coke caps that I haven't checked in at "Mycoke rewards.com" to a package of mints from a local Mexican restraunt...Gee I gotta clean things up around here. I know I am not the only one with a cluttered desk. Congrats on the new monitor BTW I always heard the LCD's aren't the best monitor for editing pics. Am I wrong?

The image quality with this LCD is soooo much better than my older CRT. The buzz that image editing on a CRT is better is to me just a buzz. . . If and when my photography starts paying for my equipment I'll drop a serious dime on a lacie or Eizo LCD $1000+ but until then this will do just fine.

My desk was more messy before hand - this how I like it to be and try to keep it the way it is seen in the photo. I just cleaned my photo gear off the left side of the desk. . . But I didn't show you the table to the right of this one . . . thats where the chaos exists. . . but I cleaned that up as well - I don't have drawers or enough shelves down there thats why the second table exists. . . I plan to remedy that shortly.

BTW that CRT was a 19 incher too.

    It is about time . . .

Gotta show off why I bought this screen. . .

    Enhanced image editing!

With my old 19" and and 17" LCD in 4:3 aspect ratio in PS CS2 the image size when editing was like a note card, now its the size of a sheet of paper!

In RSP it was the size of like a 5 x 7, better than CS2 but now its even bigger than the new larger CS2 image:

    RSP's lightbox mode - 32, count'em, 32 nice size thumbnails per screen:

and finally, RSPs slideshow mode [I held a CD in the upper right hand side for scale]

This is why I've been eyeing a widescreen LCD for some time now. . .

    Andy happy.
