Finally decided on the XT - 1st pics

I have been wavering for many months - Finally got the XT . Thanks for everyones input. Only have the kit lens and 50mm 1.8 to start, but I suppose they will be good to learn with. I'm having a great time so far.

Here are my first shots, all with the kit lens (18-55). The 18-55 is not as sharp as I would like but a little USM and some cropping in PSP does wonders!!!!

Nice, I like the first one alot.

The others, was the sun behind you? Seems like your shadows on part of them.

Try using the build in flash as a fill outdoors, works well on those shadows.

I really do not see his shadow anywhere... and fill in flash on such macro like shots will ruin them, making them flat. Shadows are interesting.

I would have to agree with you on this. I've tried flash on macros/close-ups and it does seem to ruin them - it makes the scene seem artificial. And I too enjoy the shadows - mother nature will always be the superior artist.

Thanks for the comments. I'm having a great time with the XT so far. I think I about drove my wife nuts taking shots on a hike today. Now I've got new lenses on the brain! - But that's for another post.
