Here is an article i found comparing E2s v. Rayovac rechargeables which might be helpful for some of you out there.

A good story. Just remember that unlike alkaline or lithium batteries, rechargables (of all types) self-discharge over time (30-60 days). So if you use your camera infrequently for birthdays and Christmas, alkalines/lithiums may be a good solution.

That said, I use rechargable AA's for both my older CP990 and my SB800 speedlight, and have found that the lower cost chargers (like those that come with batteries) generally don't fully charge the batteries. I use a MAHA 204 which does fully charge NiMH batteries, and I get appreciably longer service from my camera/flash.
