    Hi Stephen, thanks for that.

I chose the option you mentioned, but it gave me some sort of error message in German.... took me a while to work out that it was telling me I hadmn't selected any pictures to start the slideshow, but I got there in the end!!

I'm becoming more and more impressed with every picture I see.
Considering the lighting, these have come out pretty well, and the AF has done a good job too.

Appreciate you taking the time to do these.

Fully understand about the indoor shots with the kids, I'd be the same these days.

    Cheers
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
sorry for that! I didn't think of it when posting. Concerning the indoor shots, I can assure you that I am satisfied with the flash's power. You can even regulate flash power (+ or -). In automatic modes, shutter time is often regulated to 1/30 s, so that movements, e.g. of your children, will become blurry in the photo. In order to prevent that, one might use shutter priority program and fix shutter time to 1/100 sec or so. Maybe there are other ways of workaround.

By the way: I personally don't like pics with flash too much. Mostly I try to avoid making indoor shots.

    Stephan

P.S.: i found a very impressive makro-shot here (german site):

    Me again....

Just wondering if you can help!!

It could appear that my TZ1 has a fault in processing greens and blues and may have to go back.

This will now force my hand to upgrade to something in Manual.

One thing I want to do, as I have mentioned before is indoor moving subject shots!
My TZ1 on High Sensitivity manages the shot to a degree, but only seems to be able to max the shutter speed at 1/30.

Can anyone try a couple of shots for me under the following conditions!
    Indoor pics at night
Normal household lighting, say 60 watts
    Moving subject
    Manual mode

    Can you let me know:
    How they turned out
    What ISO was used
    What Shutter Speed was acheived.
    What F number you got.

    Many thanks
    Steve

    Hi Steve!

Did I get you right? Do you really want to take indoor shots at night without using the flash? What do you mean with 'manual mode'?

    Hi Stephan,

    Sounds daft I know.

What I'm trying to find out, if you set the the shutter speed to say 1/100, set the ISO at 800, and the Aperture to say f4, can you get a picture indoors under normal household lighting of 60 watts of a moving subject without any blur. And don't use the flash.

My TZ1 doesn't have manual, so I use the HIGH SENSITIVITY mode, which is giving me an ISO of 800. The Aperture is setting itself at f3.8 f4, but the shutter is maxing out at 1/30 and I'm getting the shot, but with blur. If the shutter speed was pushed up, then I may stop the blur. BUT I need manual to do this.

If you get time, give it a go and let me know the results.

    Cheers
    Steve

    Nightshots indoor

    Hi Steve,

finally some indoor nightshots for you:
    http://fotocenter.freenet.de/login/g...6203959/430372

    I used four different programs
-high sensitivity (ISO 800 and 1600), pic 1-3
-shutter priority with flash, pic 4
-full auto 'heart symbol' (ISO 200 shot), pic 5
-shutter priority without flash (at ISO 400, 1/60s), last pic

For your special needs, you clearly won't be satisfied with the shutter speeds achieved in FZ7s high sensitivity mode. The flash pic I added is sharp, but it delivers an unnatural light impression. Using shutter priority with a reasonable shutter speed of 1/60s and with highest possible ISO (400) without flash didn't do any better, because the pic became too dark and very noisy (last pic in my example).

You shouldn't even try to think of anyone / anything moving in these scenes...

Alas, but at least you got an insight into my kitchen now!

Looks like the FZ7 is about as capable as the TZ1 for this...
I'm slowly resigning myself that until i get a dSLR, the shots I want will have to be done in Movie and extracted.
I guess out of all my pictures, only 10% or less will be like this. I just wanted to catch a few of my son's TKD!!

The only thing I can see moving in a shot like this, is that yummy looking cake!!
And a very nice kitche you have too!

    Thanks again
