3 Month Climbing US Road Trip w/ Month in AK Which Camera

Hello, I am intermediate photographer and would like to purchase a digital camera for a 3 month road trip climbing and hiking in as many national parks as possible. The highlight will be a 2 week a mountaineering course in Denali national park (away from any electric outlets). Which camera should I purchase a canon SD500 or A540? Can anyone tell me battery life of each camera and reason why I should pick one over the other. I plan on taking a film slr for base camp shots and possibly a simple point film camera for day activities. I would like to supplement with a small digital camera for landscape, potrait and wildlife shots while in Alaska and also to carry up multi pitch climbs. As implied it I will be living out of my car for 3 month/campsites does canon make a car charger for the lithium packs and what is the cost? Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Just use a power inverter with a 110 outlet on it and charge away out of the car. You will find a power inverter more than desirable anyway.

Here's a link to what I am talking about regarding an inverter ...

    Enjoy your trip!!

Buy the camera that suits you best. I would recommend either a Super Zoom like the Canon S2 or if you aren't going that large, I would recommend waterproof like the Pentax Optio W10 - nice for lots of trips, even to the beach!
