I thought the HP Photosmart 8886 was a camera dock rather than a camera.I believe HP cameras or at least some of them save movies in the MPEG 1 format(Jeff's review of the HP R817 confirms this)which is an Avi file.It should be possible to copy both jpgs and video from the camera to your pc once the two are connected presumably using the dock. You just send them to the required destination folder(My Videos?) and the files should then play in Windows Media Player.Alternatively take the memory card out and use a card reader which will then show the card as a new drive from which the files can be copied to the chosen folder on your hard drive.
