Try taking the batteries out and leaving them out for a day or two, that should give the standby battery time to discharge which might give the camera a hard reset.

If that doesn't work, it's probably a repair shop job to replace the mode switch.

    Unhappy Same Problem Here

I also have this problem- has anyone resolved this. This just happened today. I have had this camera since last summer. This really stinks I have all communion pictures of my daughter on here and wanted to view them. It is just stuck in this standby mode. I just took out the batteries to see if that is what it is and I'll leave it overnight. If anyone finds out how to resolve this --please please let me know. Thank you so much.

    Fixed Problem!!

For anyone that reads this with this same problem -- I am happy to announced I got it fixed!! Thank goodness I found my limited warranty for 1 yr and brought it with the camera and receipt to Best Buy where I had purchased the camera last summer. They said they'd hand it over to the Geek Squad and fix it for us-- well 10 days later I have my camera fixed at no charge!! They delivered it right to my door by UPS. I am just so happy to have my camera back and fixed!! I hope this helps you!!

It sounds like you'll need to replace the switch. Most digital cameras aren't made to be repaired, so there's not going to be much help for you here. Bring it to a shop and see if they can help you.
