Camera Case?
As my signature conveys, I am shooting a big ol' EOS 20D w/ a BG-E2 grip on it. Also, I am usually sporting the Tamron 18-200mm.
Here's the rub...
I need some kind of camera CASE to cover the whole shooting match as I am running around w/o the LowePro backpack and the camera is slung around my neck, prancing through the woods, in pursuit of camera-prey, during less than superior weather. A 'heated' case would even be better, as I have found the digital camera quite tempramental during cold spells (<50 degrees F) .
Now I have looked around in various camera stores, but I have yet to find anything near the size I need to "wrap" this puppy in. Once that BG-E2 is slapped on, underneath, there choices are (IMO) apparently nonexistant and when you are "in the field" is precisely when having the BG-E2 is both necessary and quite useful (vs. a pocket full of batteries). I know there are those of you who would argue that the studio is more appropriate for such gear, but for argument sake... Don is out in the woods, okay?

Measurement-wise, for this 20D/BG-E2 configuration, we are looking at 5.5" wide x 6.5" tall x 7" deep (w/ 18-200mm lens). Obviously, with all the controls on the rear of the camera, access is absolutely critical there (unlike most film cameras). Admittedly, when you are in hot pursuit of camera-prey, you are not usually reviewing the shots as you trot along, so perhaps access to the rear of the Canon isn't all that necessary, but would be a "nice to have".
A 'zippered-port', on the front, for quick lens cap removal access (w/o having to strip the camera of the case would be premium, if you are inclined to autofocus, on the run... which I am.
I suppose a neoprene case would be adequate, as long as it is some what water-resistent.
(I tell you, I am half tempted to just make one (have my grandmother knit one up ) and market it myself, since the 30D is effectively the same camera, using the same components as the 20D. So there will be two Canon frames of effectively the same exact proportions.)
If anyone, out there in TV-land, knows who might make one of these for the 20D/BG-E2 combo... please, make it known. Cards and letters are waiting.
Thanks,

Just in case...
Look... while I was off nursing my Minolta 9000 camera along for the past 20 years, did the need for a tight fitting camera body and lens case disappear or something?
Are people not using them anymore? (Rhetorical, of course)
Admittedly, the 9000 also suffered, case-wise, when you added the MD-90 and BP-90 (Motor Drive & Battery Pack) to the camera. It became this monster requiring a rather large bag with a deep nose.

Look, I know that lenses come is quite an assortment of sizes, these days, and accomodating them has become a "stretch and fit" exercise, but don't you think there must be something out there that accomodate the BG-E2 grip when it is attached to the EOS 20D.
Doesn't anyone on the forum have an idea who might be making them?
I am listening... it's kind of quiet in here.

I've been using a Tamrac Velocity 9 Shoulder Bag. It works just fine with the 20D/BGE2 Battery Grip, Canon 70-200 f/2.8L, Canon 24-70 f/2.8L, Speedlite 580EX, and my Canon 1.4X Extender.

Golly, Mr. Peabody...
I can relate to the bag, but I was looking more for a "wrap" case of some kind for just the camera, the BG-E2 and the attached lens.
You know, something for running through the woods, the shopping mall, some convention... or even the streets of Iraq... when taking "incoming."
It just doesn't seem that anyone is cranking these out. Maybe I need to give Canon a call... on the Batphone!

Thanks anyway.
