    WTB Digital SLR Camera

I'm looking to buy a Digital SLR camera. I currently own the Konica Minolta Z6 and would like to upgrade to an SLR. I have been using the camera to take mainly nature photos and indoor photos.

I've been looking at the Nikon D70s and have seen lots of good reviews for it. I am new to the SLR and am not sure if this is the right camera to get.

I am also curious about what lens's would be good to use with any suggested cameras. My price range is approximatly $1100 or less.

If anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't buy the D70 over the D50. D50 much cheaper and same quality (even better noise performance)

D50 is a nice camera as is the Rebel XT as is the 20D/30D.

What do you shoot more? Zoom or wide angel stuff? Low light or daylight?

I usually take close up pictures of plants using a macro-mode in day light (outdoors). Although during the winter I have been taking pictures indoors in low light. I mainly use the zoom on my current digital camera, although I did purchase a wide angle lense to experiment with, but haven't been able to use it yet.

Since this will be my first DSLR I want something that I will be able to experiment around with, and will last me a while.

    Any other advise?

Might look at D50 with 18-200 VR lens. It's probably best "all in one" solution there is in one lens and close focus pretty well.

    Thumbs up

I've just bought a Nikon D50 with 18-55 & 70-300 fot £550. A fantastic camera and and fantastic value, especially when I compare it to the price I paid for my Canon T90 kit 20 yrs ago. I just hope I get the same performance and reliability for 20 yrs from my Nikon that I got with Canon.

It's not like me to swap brands when I've been more than happy with one particular brand but the reviews on here were especially usefull...........and accurate !
