    Has the S2 been discontinued?

Is Canon going to stop making the S2 when the S3 comes out in May? Or have they stopped already?

From what I understand it's not officially discontinued, but when they're gone, they're gone...

Thanks Jeff. Anyone know about the A610? My local Best Buy and Circuit City sold out of them last week and said they don't expect to get anymore. They consider it discontinued.

However, my local camera co and Target said they plan to order more when they sell out of their current A610 stock. None of the new 06 Canons yet seem like replacements for the A610, it's only been on the market 6 months and is still popular, so it's hard to believe it's discontinued.

    S2 price falling down

    Hi Bascom,

I really don't know if Canon is discountinuing the S2 IS however its price is falling down pretty fast...around $100 since last 4 or 5 weeks. It's still a very good camera though.

Crutchfield has them in stock at $399 - and I have a coupon code for another $20 off (E-mail me if you want the code). They don't charge sales tax, shipping is FREE and they are currently including a FREE bag.

    Ciao!!

Thanks guys. Yes the S2 is a good buy at $400 (or $380 with coupon), but so is the A610 at $250 so I plan to buy that. I prefer its smaller size, optical VF, and 4x zoom is enough for me. For a beginner like me, the A610 seems best.

Yes that's the S2. I knew web prices were as low as $325 but I didn't know they were that low. For someone who claims to be camera dumb, you've got yourself a nice camera at a very low price.
