Sigma 70-210mm f4-5.6 UC II???

Hello Thanks in advance for your help a friend of a friend is offering me this lens very cheap (because he is paying his debts) and I was wondering if it is a decent lens? I dont expect it to be like a 1,000 bucks lens, but is it decently sharp??? thanks a lot

I've used this lens with my D50 and have been very happy with the results. It focuses quickly at my son's soccer games and when I'm out shooting flying birds.
