    Buying a D50 - Need quick suggestions

I am leaving for a camping trip on friday. I am going to be either buying at RitzCamera (local, not far from house).

    Main uses:
    1) Swimming Pool Pictures
    2) Scenery
    3) Close ups
    4) Action Shots

Thats the way in order of importance.

Here is the options they offer:
    $549 Nikon D50 Digital SLR w/Quantaray 28-90mm F/3.3-5.6 Lens
    $599 Nikon D50 Digital SLR w/Nikkor 28-80mm F/3.3-5.6 G Lens
$699 Nikon D50 Digital SLR Kit w/18-55mm AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens

I want to spend as little as possible upfront.
    or should I go with
    $549 w/ 28-90mm (since its the same as a body) & a Nikon 50mm f1.8 for a total for $660
Im truly a n00b when it comes to lenses and dSLR so please be kind. If I am correct from my research.

edit:// The main reason I choose a D50 is because of the SD Card.

I wouldn't buy the quandary lenses.

The 18-55 isn't bad, better would be an 18-70 AF-S. Can bind them online for 200$ or so. Faster, bigger range.

Fredmiranda.com/forum is a good place, signup and post in buy/sell forum for an 18-70.

I know Ritz sells Sigma lenses. Try and get a D50 with a Sigma 18-125mm zoom.It may cost a little more but it seems to be a good walk around lens and should satisfy a lot of your needs, except for the sports shots you may need a longer lens like a 80-200mm zoom. Otherwise, start with the 18-55 mm and save up for the Nikon 55-200mm kit lens. Don't forget to get a lot of memory, 2 gigbytes would be good. Newegg.com is a great place to get SD memory cards, but I doubt it would get here by Friday.

Have a good trip and take lots of pictures.

Skip that 55-200 and save up for a Sigma 70-300 APO DG instead. That nikon 55-200 is not worth much in the long end, and the Sigma, which adds more reach and performs better, also gives you a 1:2 macro mode as added bonus.

    I went the D50 + 28-90mm Quantaray.

After that, I immediately bought the 50mm f/1.8 prime, and about a month later, I bought the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8.

My plans're to buy the SB-600 next, and then the 80-200mm f/2.8 or 85mm f/1.8. After the tele is taken care of, I might go ultra wide the tokina 12-24
