On one end I want something I won't want to replace - But that will cost me. From the travel standpoint I want something that can fill in. . . Maybe that 28-105 will do just the trick. . . hmmm?
Yes, I think it jusy might... but don't you like wider things?

I don't have a problem with women with a little junk in the trunk! Its gotta be proportional, but I'm with sir mix alot on this one! LMAO

Did you mean lenses? Right. Well, I don't have anything wider than 35 right now. So That would get me 7mm wider. I have yet to decide on wide angle stuff. I can't even get standard and tele sorted out, I don't need another headache!

I don't do a lot of landscape shots so at this point the wide end, while its presence lacks in my kit, it doesn't hurt me not having it.

I gotta say, spending a few hours checking out sample photos at pbase for the canon 28-105 hasn't impressed me at all.

Maybe the problem is that its an amateurish lens and while the more experienced amateur photographer will pick up the tamy, a lot of inexperienced ones will by the 28-108 thus making the poor image quality samples a function of who purchases the lens. . .? There are exceptions though, every once and a while I'll come across a nice sample, sharp good colors. . . just not as frequent as the Tamron samples. .

Very soft wide open, the Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM Lens gets sharp around f/5.6. from http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R...ns-Review.aspx

That might explain why every decent photo I see is like F8-F10.

Here's a test of your sanity, Andy...

I took one of the pictures below with the Canon 28-105, the other with my 28-70L. Both at 70mm. Both at f4.5 - wide open for the 28-105, down a stop for the 28-70. Can you tell which lens?

    Maybe this well help:

I'll take a stab; is the 28-70 the one on the right?

I was wondering the same thing. On the PBase galleries it's very rare to see a bad picture from an L lens, though fairly common to see bad pictures from less expensive lenses. Is it the lens or the photographer?

Just fast enough! He's 6 months now so every day it seems he is doing something new. This week he started giving hugs. I feel like my heart is going to overflow every time he throws his little arms around my neck. Simply amazing!
