This is the way it should be. Everyone has a photos of a beach right? Beach scenes inspire people to take photos, so this should be a fast growing thread; why shouldn't it be? lindann, I am sure that people do view and quietly appreciate every photo at one time or another but not everyone replies to each poster due to time constraint I guess. Prospero. That Southern Italy right? hmm........ People live right to the edge of the sea. I don't feel that safe. jnev. Nice shot - you manage to create a gloomy mood. Are you sure that's not Mt. DOOM?
Hopefully, we will have nice beaches from around the world. I notice many beaches from US are similar to the ones in Australia, but Italian beach seems exotic to me.
Actually, this beach is in Northern Italy (Vernazza, near Genova to be precize), unlike the first one I posted. Living close to the sea is just as common in the North as in the south though. The steep coast has forced the people to live very close to the sea, as living high up in the mountains was not very practicle if you had to make a living by fishing in the Mediteranean Sea. The Mediteranean Sea is very calm, though, so the risk of floods is limited.
Here's another picture of the Dutch beach. It's a beach near the beach actually. I took this picture at the of a small lake in the dunes. It's a lot less exotic as the Italian beach, but I'm slowly but surely running out of pictures of Italian beaches, so I'll therefore post one a bit closer to home .
Wow, the beach photos here are just beautiful. I am really enjoying all of them.
I see many that really would be great in print. Hope you all get them printed and framed for display in special places. Seeing the beach really does give a great feeling.
