Exclamation Just ... and I mean JUST before the rain hit!

This cloud formation filled the sky, right overhead, just before a torrential downpour pounded Oakton Community College, Des Plaines, IL - 3/21/2007 around 5:21pm CDT. (Camera internal clock was off four minutes)

    20mm (eff. 30mm) - f/3.5 - 1/30 sec. - ISO-160 - 0 Step EC
Looked like a geyser plume ... or a demolition blast

    20mm (eff. 30mm) - f/3.5 - 1/30 sec. - ISO-125 - 0 Step EC
Looked like an ocean ... gone nuts! Or a dam burst - ripping down a canyon

    Overhead:

    20mm (eff. 30mm) - f/4 - 1/30 sec. - ISO-100 - 0 Step EC

The last one was the best of the five I took ... all of them in less than thirty seconds and just as dramatic as any I have witnessed. Looked like something was about to pop out of it ... and what an electrical show, a few minutes later!

Hey ... these is also IN COLOR!

Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.

The images where slightly adjusted for contrast optimization and resized, but that was it. The originals are still pretty good, but I struggled trying not to get my equipment wet ... so analysis & adjustments were rather meager. In other words: grab & go! You don't ask a tornado to stand still ... or you might not be standing around very long. LOL

Here's the original of the last photograph (only resized in MS Paint)
