Hello, Is Anyone Here Right Now?
I just received my very first digital camera for Christmas and it is not a very expensive one at all (Polaroid IZone 300), but does take good pictures. I really hope someone can help, because as much as I REALLY want to take up photography as a hobby, I just can't afford another camera for about another 3 months or so. Anyway, sorry to ramble, but my question is: My battery only seems to last for about 35-45 pictures, or maybe 4 hours before it dies. Oh, and I already took it back and exchanged it for another, thinking that the 1st was maybe defective. Is this normal battery lilfe, or am I doing something wrong? I soooo very sincerely appreciate your help.,

Depends on the type of batteries it uses. If they're AA size and you're using regular alkalines, then yeah that's a possibly accurate battery life. Throwaway batteries don't last long. Try rechargeable NiMH AA batteries of the highest mAh you can find. I have Duracell 2500 mAh batteries for my flash and they work pretty well. mAh is like the gas tank of the battery. The higher that number, the longer they'll last.
If you're camera is using proprietary battery pack(s), it's possible that it's a defective battery and the camera itself is fine. Try another battery pack. If that doesn't work, buy several battery packs and keep them charged so you can swap 'em out as necessary. You can also try a third party battery with a higher mAh rating (this rating applies to all batteries, not just AA size) than the ones your camera comes with, if they're available.
You can also maximize your battery life, no matter what kind your camera uses, by using the LCD less...don't review your shots as often, set the LCD to auto shutoff sooner, use the viewfinder instead of the LCD for taking your shots, etc. Also if there's an auto off option for the camera itself, turn it on so it shuts off and isn't sitting there powered up yet idle...wasting your juice.

I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that the camera has a built-in lithium battery. So, you think then that I should purchase another battery ? I warned you, I'm VERY new to this and didn't realize I could even do that, LOL
Thank YOU!!!

That lithium battery can probably be taken out and replaced with a rechargeable of the same size. I found this link to a battery dealer that claims it's compatible. Check it out and let me know if it looks like what's in your camera:

It appears to just be 2 AA NiMh batteries connected together somehow (maybe not even connected together..I can't really tell). You might want to look around for those locally or online and invest in a set or two. At least then you'd be able to recharge 'em.
