Fountains, sculpture & statues
Hi Folks
Thought we could use another thread because Fountains don't really fit the Waterfall thread and many sculptures and some statues are not monuments or don't commemorate or monumentalise particular people or events (although many statues, particularly of famous people, could be said to be monuments to their memory...). In any case I hope others will support this new thread and add their photos of Fountains, Sculptures and Statues!
I'll post some photos once the thread is created.
cheers,

Fountains
So to get started in this new thread, here are some Fountain photos I've taken this month in various locations around Sydney, Australia.
First, a photo of the Archibald Fountain taken on 18SEP07 at 11:46pm with a borrowed Ricoh Caplio GX. Since the original photo was underexposed, I've raised the brightness quite a bit, raised colour saturation a little and decreased contrast a smidgin. This photo is from the first series of digital photos that I've taken. Hope you like the pp result

Second, Fountain #1, Martin Place, Sydney.
(This fountain featured in the movie: The Matrix,
check out the Agent Training Program scene! )

Third, Fountain #2, Martin Place.

Finally, the fountain in the courtyard of Sydney Hospital, Macquarie St, Sydney.

Enjoy.

Statues
Statues.
Queen Victoria, surrounded by cherubim and Britanic figures, above the English Royal Coat of Arms, above the main entrance to the GPO, Martin Place, Sydney.

Statues are a little tricky ...., when I reviewed the statue photos I've taken recently, most were of famous people, hence could be thought of as monuments, or were in fact part of monuments, like the War Memorial in Hyde Park and the Cenotaph in Martin Place.
If you have photos of statues, which aren't monuments, please feel free to post them in this thread.
cheers,
Benjamin

This is at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal, California.
Jackie Cochran was the first female pilot to break the sound barrier, and flew faster than Mach 2 at 1,429 MPH. At one time, she held more flying records than any other person. During WWII, she founded the Women's Airforce Service Pilot (WASP) program. She died in 1980, and is buried nearby in Coachella Valley cemetery.

Archibald Fountain, second take!
Hey Guys
Thanks for supporting this thread with your posts! Some nice shots there: SpecialK, ChevyMan23, & mr.dobsi!
I'm looking forward to when people will post some fountain shots from Europe, like some classic fountains in Paris, Rome, London, or exotic sculpture etc.
Here is my second take on the Archibald Fountain, Hyde Park, Sydney, taken hand-held (although supported by the information plaque plinth of the fountain) at night.

Exif: Shutter-priority auto shooting mode, shutter speed 4sec's (the slowest my camera, a Fuji S5700/S700, can go), ISO400, Exposure correction: +2EV, Spot metering, Sharpness: Hard, everything else I left on auto.
cheers,
Benjamin

Well you got it this time Benjamin. Now go back with a tripod and try doing an HDR of that fountain. I bet it will look pretty good.
