Last one for today. Ben in capsule to show some foreground Bokeh. 1/250s @ f/2, ISO 400. If weather is good then plan on a day at the beach with the fam at which time I'll try some with both extenders.

Even if I had access to rent one of those, I don't think I would.

I must say I'm going to find it hard to hand this thing back to CPS on Monday. If I don't hear anything concrete on a new IS version I think I'll start to look out for one of these puppies - er, it's for the business Dear, you know how it is...

The weather has been uncharacteristically crappy so I didn't get to the beach as planned. Had to make do with the kids playing in the street.

Blake pushing his bike up the hill. Canon Extender EF 2x II added. 1/1250s @ f/4 (ie; stopped-down 1/3rd), ISO 400.

Nicky trying to follow. This time lens is wide-open with Canon Extender EF 2x II. 1/2000s @ f/3.5, ISO 400. This 2x Tele seems to work slightly better than with the EF 300mm f/2.8 L USM I used to own (working from memory), although that was with a series I Extender which is optically different.

And now for the smaller teleconverter. Nick with sister Elissa on the Green Machine (present from Santa). Extender EF 1.4x II added to Lens EF 200mm f/1.8 L USM. 1/1000s @ f/3.2 (ie; stopped-down 2/3rds), ISO 400.

Well that's it folks, thanks for joining me on the ride! The lens is being (reluctantly) returned to CPS tomorrow.

Watch this space though as I'm now really psyched to try some other long lenses in the stable, I feel a 400mm f/2.8 IS coming along sometime soon. Last time I used this lens was the older non-IS Mark I (the second heaviest EF lens ever (at 6.1kg) behind the EF 1200mm) at the Adelaide F1 Grand Prix in 1994. Time to rekindle an old romance......

Incidentally, all examples shot RAW and converted to JPEG (sRGB) in DPP. Daylight WB, Neutral Picture Style with +1 Contrast and +1 Saturation on most (if not all). Sharpness: 3.
