    looking for a camera

    i am an inexperianced photographer looking for a good digital camera under 400 i want a camera that is not to small, about the size of the sony s-1 that is one of the models i am considering also the cannon s-2 powershot your help is appricited i have no brand preference just looking for the most bang for my buck

    You are in the wrong thread, this is the DSLR chat, if you are looking for a camera under $400, and contemplating a P&S you definitly don't want a DSLR

    Check out review sites

    Check out review sites such as this one, DPreview, Steves digicams, etc. and research. Decide what features you need, how many MP, focal lengths, lens speed, battery type, etc. Make a list, see what lines up with your list, make compromises, buy your camera. Both cameras you mention are more than adequate. I am partial to the Canon S2: Excellent zoom range, Image Stabilization, and probably the best digicam movie mode.
