    Question Memory Card Question

I just bought an S2, was using a S50 for a few years before and have several Compact flash cards. The S2 needs SD cards and I will buy a big one one but I was wondering if there was an easy way to transfer images from the sd card to the compact flash when I am travelling and don't have my computer to download to. That way I would have a couple of gigs of storage. I was thinking of using card readers and and an internet cafe but wasn't sure if there was an easier way to transfer the data as both types of cards are simply storage media. Seems a waste of all that Compact Flash storage media otherwise.

    Thanks for any advice.

I'm afraid I can only suggest selling the CF cards on ebay and spending the money on additional SD cards. The camera is a slave USB device, so to pull the images off the SD card in the camera and put them onto the CF cards, you'll need some kind of master USB device. That's not going to be especially cheap.

Or get one of those mini hard drive cases that you put you own 2.5" HDD in. It has a display and slots for CF/SD etc and you can transfer those images to the HDD and re-use the card for more images. They are not that expensive (Just shove a 2.5" HDD from a laptop inside. I am sure you can find small 5GB one's floating around for not much at all). The link to one of those gadgets is on this forum someplace.

hey, i'm impressed. You can get a 20Gb portable storage device for not much more than 2 or 3 Gbs of normal memory cards.

Yes they even do a couple of newer models (VP6310 and MMV 6300) that allow you to view the photos in colour on an LCD screen and movie playback too).
