One can't buy it if one doesn't know anything about it other than what it looks like.

It is a lens hood for the TCON14B and the only one that is made. It is made of 6061 aluminum, very portable and the inside is completely covered in baffle rings, which knock out ambient light. Clear vignettte free pictures from 4X to 12X . The only other lens hood was the Contax and that sold for $28.00 the hood cover sold for $12.00 and did not fit around the lens for storage.

    Jerry,

I understand all of this as I read your postings elsewhere (dpreview, steve's, etc.) and I've searched your eBay listings looking for this new hood (without success). I'd really like to know pricing and availability before I can make a decision.

I currently have a 77mm Hama-style rubber hood (the largest that I've been able to find) on my TCON-14B using an 86-77 stepring with no vignetting. (This hood also fits -- without stepring -- on my TCON-17 that has a 77mm UV filter pressed into the front end for protection and mounting threads.)

I'd seriously consider your hood if I only knew more specifics.

    lens hood

I'm using a pvc coupler from Home Depot that fits very well. It has a 3.5 inch ID. It's not heavy and could be turned down if you know someone with a metal cutting lathe.

Yes, but painting the inside black is not a solution. You need to line the inside with photographic flocking powder.

I haven't got any flare on my photos yet.
