    Help with digital for night fishing pics.

    I need a digital camera for self-taking digital pics of me and trophy fish at night. It must have a remote.

    * Budget $200.
    *Size - Not important.
    * 3-4 megapixels
    * Image quality 7 out of 10

    *Manual controls preferred.

    *General Usage: Self taken pics of me with big fish (hopefully! ) at night.
    Mostly pics will be for posting on the web with a few prints 8x10 rarely. Occasionally they will be used for magazine articles.
    * I like Canon but the new ones are way out of budget (older models?)

    *I already have in mind the Olympus stylus 300,410 and 500.

    *I would like the following features:
    aa batteries, optical viewfinder, great red-eye control (either in software or camera), water resistivity, easy to use beefy controls and some kind of lens protection.
    *It must have a tripod mount and a remote.

    I am not necessarily looking for a new camera. An older, good quality model will fit the bill, and I won't be so worried of dropping it in the mud.

    Any help you can give will be greatfully accepted.

    Thanks.

    Do you mind buying used gear? Because a canon g2 or g3 with an external flash can give great results on a budget.
    US Navy--Hooyah!

    Nikon D700/D300|17-35 f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8, Sigmalux, 80-200 f/2.8, 16 f/2.8 fisheye,

    Lots of flashes and Honl gear.

    Realistically with my budget, I think I have to be looking at used. Thanks for the tip. Any more?

    Thanks ObiJuan for the help. I got a nearly new G3 off ebay and I love it. The swivel feature on the screen so you can see the shot while posing is great - saves missing bits of the fish. The remote is just what I wanted. Attached is my first pic adjusted to fit on the website. The quality of the original is much better. Now I need to start reading up on flash photography!
